Negotiations: Leave It to the Experts

Okay, that may sound mean. What do I mean by that? Well, over the last 18 years of selling homes in Long Branch, New Jersey, 07740, and throughout Monmouth and Ocean County, I can’t tell you all of the craziness I’ve seen in this industry. Make sure you let us do the negotiating for you. You can’t imagine the cats that you let out of the bag when you open that beautiful mouth of yours to talk to the buyer or the buyer’s agent. You may think you’re being nice, but you never know what you might say could actually kill the deal or cost you an enormous amount of money.

Negotiations are another key factor when selling, so you want to hire an agent who has had extensive experience in negotiations. You wouldn’t believe that certain things matter when negotiating, like the type of words that you say or your tone or how quickly you answer a question. You wouldn’t know how any of those things can drastically affect the outcome of negotiations, unless you’ve had extensive experience and training on how to properly negotiate. And the good news is I have. Think about this. If the average agent only sells 600 a year, are they really able to negotiate a nearly half to the best of their ability? We’ve been selling homes for decades. So negotiating and market knowledge is one of my specialties, and it assures that we can best serve and negotiate on your behalf. It’s scary to think that someone with such little experience can be negotiating on your largest investment.

Bottom line, you’ve got to be careful. Not all agents are created equal. Just because your boss’s sister’s aunt got her real estate license a year ago and is going to be discounting their commission by a percentage or two, watch out. That 1% in savings that you think you’re getting can cost you thousands and thousands of dollars due to a lack of experience, knowledge and know-how. It’s kind of like that awesome thing, I’ll let you fill in the blank, that you got at the discount store that seemed like such a great idea at the time, it ended up falling apart and costing you so much more headache than it was worth. And that’s just a thing. Imagine a home sale falling apart. It’s your most valued asset. So don’t leave the biggest investment of your entire life in the hands of someone who doesn’t have much experience. Go to an expert, go to someone who’s going to expose it to the masses, who’s an expert at their game, who takes their job seriously, who does it full-time and is an experienced negotiator.
